Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice (1813), Jane Austen`s best-known and most-loved novel, tells a love story that captivates the reader. It presents the rigid codes of the social behaviour that existed in Regency England where the roles of men and women were strictly defined, and marriage was seen as the means to achieve social advancement and financial security. In this novel, you will see how these rigid codes are turned upside-down.

The story of Bennet family with the courtships Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, and Jane and Mr. Bingley is set against this highly class-conscious background.
